Manuel Gonçalves

I'm a 30-year-old web and product developer based in Barcelona, originally from Saint Mathew, Venezuela. I've been building software professionally for over a decade, working across web and mobile products in a variety of technical and organizational contexts.

I started my career as a junior developer and gradually grew into senior and leadership roles. Along the way, I worked across Venezuela, Ecuador, Chile, and Spain, progressing from hands-on development to architecture lead and project management. Those years shaped how I think about systems, teams, and long-term technical decisions.

Several projects marked key turning points for me — from designing the architecture of a mobile transport application with satellite integrations, to leading the development of a large-scale support ticketing system for a banking corporation in Chile. These experiences reinforced my focus on building software that is reliable, simple, and maintainable under real-world constraints.

Today, I work full-time as a senior engineer at Inditex while taking on selected freelance projects. I mentor and lead engineers, helping teams deliver robust systems without unnecessary complexity. My approach prioritizes reliability first, followed by simplicity, performance, and long-term maintainability — and avoids flashy but fragile solutions.
